Professional Development

Helping your people make good decisions about technology.

I’m Leigh-Chantelle, the person behind Digital Equilibrium. I design and run professional development sessions for teachers, school and university staff, and organisations. I’m a qualified trainer (Certificate IV in Training and Assessment) with a background in psychology and ICT research, and I’ve created and facilitated workshops at Griffith University.

One hour, two hours or a half day, built around your people. In person across Brisbane, the Gold Coast and South East Queensland, or online. Interstate travel can be booked from 2027.

Short on theory, long on practice: you’ll set things up, try things and leave with something you can use. Every session includes handouts to take away.

Who I work with

  • Teachers and school staff, including school leaders
  • Universities and TAFEs, for staff and students
  • Businesses, community groups and other organisations

My Approach

The Digital Equilibrium Approach is about creating lifelong, healthy digital habits, not just learning which button to press.

Every session uses Pause, Consider, Decide: noticing what’s in front of you, thinking about what it means, and choosing what to do next.

  • Hands-on: you practise on your own devices and real situations
  • Plain-English explanations, grounded in research
  • Respect for what you already know
  • No lecture-and-leave: I tailor the session to your context and your questions

Professional Development Sessions

Choose a theme, then a depth.

Every theme is available at three depths (levels of detail), with the same topics each time.

Themes

Healthy technology habits for staff and students.

What a healthy relationship with technology looks like, and why devices and apps are built to hold our attention.

    • At two hours, you clean up your own devices in the session: turning off notifications, switching to greyscale and other settings that make them less demanding.
    • In a half day, you also leave with a plan for your classroom or staffroom, and a way to talk with students and parents about it.
AI in the classroom and the staffroom.

What AI is, where it shows up, and how to use it as a tool, not a compulsion.

    • At two hours, we work through real tasks and decide where AI helps and where it takes over.
    • In a half day, you leave with draft guidelines for staff and student use.
Pause, Consider, Decide in practice.

The Digital Equilibrium Approach and its six elements, in plain terms.

    • At two hours, we apply it to a real situation at your school, such as phones or group chats.
    • In a half day, you build a short activity to use with students.

Other topics available
Such as recognising scams and AI-generated content, privacy and passwords, and reviewing or designing your organisation’s digital policies, these are on the full list of topics, and are available in the same three depths.
Or tell me your biggest digital challenges and I’ll build a session around them.

Depths

One hour

An introduction.
The ideas in plain terms, and one thing to try.

Two hours

More depth and application.
We apply it to your own situation and practise.

Half day

Hands-on, in a supportive, networking environment.
You work through your own context with others, leave with something you can use, and take away handouts.

One theme, your whole community
I can also deliver one theme across teachers, students and parents within a few days, so everyone gets the same message.
